Business, Computer & Information Technology Post-Baccalaureate

The Department of Education offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Education. The RMU Business, Computer and Information Technology (BCIT) Teacher Education Program Mission and Standards comply with the Pennsylvania Department of Education General Standards and Specific Program Guidelines for BCIT Teacher Education.

Upon successful completion of this undergraduate degree program, the teacher candidate applies to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for K-12 teacher certification in Business, Computer and Information Technology (BCIT).

Course Requirements

A complete list of courses that you must complete to graduate with a B.S. degree in Business Education and to apply for a Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate to teach grades K through 12 in your content area is provided in the Program of Study document. This document also provides the suggested sequencing of required courses.

Teacher Certification Requirements

In addition to the course requirements, there are other program and certification requirements that each education student must fulfill. All requirements must be satisfied for the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to grant you a Pennsylvania Instructional I Teaching Certificate.  The steps are outlined in the post-baccalaureate Teacher Education Progress Process (TEPP).

Click here to access an application for the program. Please note that all applications for post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs must have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university or college with a 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA 
  • Two letters of recommendation 
  • Resume 
  • 3.0 undergraduate GPA in the college coursework that will apply to your content certification
  • Pennsylvania and FBI clearances
