The Political Science BA program at RMU is perfect for anyone with an interest in American politics, law, state and local government or international affairs.
Students have the opportunity to take a study tour class to Washington, D.C. for a week in May, touring our Nation's Capital and hearing from experts and participants in the political, legal, and policy processes on how government and politics work.
Study abroad opportunities are an excellent opportunity for every student and particularly for students interested in international affairs. The Center for Global Engagement can help with these arrangements. RMU is part of the Council on International Educational Exchange, which offers approved semester study abroad programs all over the world. A semester abroad works nicely with the political science major, and is a life-changing experience.
The Washington Center offers semester-long internship programs for students. The internships can be in different aspects of national politics, government affairs, political journalism, law, and international affairs. Students get internship credit for the Political Science Practica, as well as elective credit. There are generous scholarships for students from Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity every political science student should consider.
There are opportunities in state and local politics as well:
The Local Government Academy is a great resource for working and interning in local government. In particular, their Municipal Internship Program is excellent.
