English/Communication Teacher Certification Post-Baccalaureate
The Department of Education at Robert Morris University, with the assistance of the Department of English Studies, offers a non-degree post-baccalaureate program for individuals who have completed an undergraduate bachelor's degree program from an accredited higher education institution and now wish to become a secondary school teacher. This program can be easily combined with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Instructional Leadership by taking three additional classes.
Upon successful completion of this non-degree certification program, the teacher candidate applies to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for teacher certification in secondary English and secondary Communications (grades 7-12).
Teacher Certification Requirements
In addition to the course requirements, there are other program and certification requirements that each education student must fulfill. All requirements must be satisfied for the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to grant you a Pennsylvania Instructional I Teaching Certificate. The steps are outlined in the post-baccalaureate Teacher Education Progress Process (TEPP).
